RRID
A New Chapter for
Rich River Irrigation Developments
After more than four decades of helping shape Australian agriculture, Rich River Irrigation Developments (RRID) has officially closed its doors.
Founded in 1980 by Russell with little more than determination, knowledge, and a dream, RRID grew into one of Australia’s largest and most respected names in irrigation surveying and farm development. From a modest office in Moama, the business was responsible for designing and developing what is estimated to be well over one million kilometres of channels, drains, dams, and irrigation infrastructure, helping farming families improve the productivity and efficiency of their land.
Peter has been part of the RRID story from the early days, working alongside Russell as the business grew and evolved over the decades. This long-standing involvement has given Peter a wealth of knowledge and experience in irrigation development, farm planning, water management, and the practical needs of Australian agriculture.
In 2004, Peter officially became a partner in the business. That same year, RRID proudly became an authorised Bauer dealership, expanding its services to include the design, supply, installation, servicing, and support of Bauer irrigation equipment. This marked the beginning of a long-standing partnership with Bauer that continues today.
Over the years, RRID completed irrigation developments across Australia and internationally, including projects in Indonesia and Sudan. Every project reflected the same commitment to quality, innovation, and supporting the agricultural industry.
Now, after an extraordinary career, it is time for Russell to put away his trusty Trimble and enjoy his well earned retirement. His vision, dedication, and contribution to Australian agriculture have left a legacy that will continue for generations.
One Door Closes, Another Opens
While the surveying side of the business has come to an end, Peter’s passion for agricultural irrigation has continued to grow.
Peter’s main passion has always been the design, supply, installation, and servicing of Bauer irrigation equipment. With decades of hands on experience, he has developed an exceptional ability to design and customise Bauer irrigation systems to suit the unique layout, water supply, and production goals of each individual property. His practical knowledge ensures every system is tailored to maximise efficiency, reliability, and long-term performance.
That passion led to the creation of Rich River Spray Irrigation (RRSI), allowing Peter to focus entirely on Bauer agricultural irrigation equipment, servicing, maintenance, irrigation design, and expert advice for farmers across Australia.
Continuing the commitment to providing exceptional customer service, RRSI launched its online spare parts shop in 2026, making it easier than ever for customers to source genuine irrigation spare parts quickly and conveniently, wherever they are in Australia.
Although Rich River Irrigation Developments has now closed, the knowledge, experience, and commitment built over more than 45 years continue through Rich River Spray Irrigation. Customers can expect the same honest advice, practical solutions, and dedication to quality that have been the foundation of the business since 1980.
To every farmer, customer, contractor, supplier, and friend who has supported Rich River Irrigation Developments throughout the years, thank you. Your trust has been the cornerstone of our journey, and while we farewell RRID, we look forward to continuing to support Australian agriculture through Rich River Spray Irrigation for many years to come.
